Which is better - Bags or Bagless Vacuum ?
Should I buy a Bagless Vacuum ?
Spoiler alert:        We are firmly in the  “BAG”  Camp.

                                   The debate Rages on .. 
 
The Concept of "Bagless"  is Not  a Better Vacuuming idea.
It was Invented because Advertisers knew , (to the Uninformed) - It would "Sound" like a good idea,
 And would SELL more Vacuums.  
The "Better Quality" Vacuum Companies ONLY sell Vacuums That DO have Bags
( EX:  Miele,  Riccar,  Kirby etc. )

  A  Vacuum is a Very Simple Animal....
 It sucks in a HUGE Amount of Air....
 Then Blows all this Air back Into your Home though Filters

 In a "Bagged" Cleaner, it blows the air through bag walls that are 2 months old (Maybe?)

 In a "Bagless" cleaner, this Air blows through Filters containing (3 years?) Of Yuck and Germs..
 And possibly  Dust mites, Fleas, Bedbugs, or just various Pet "Debris" & Allergens

BAGS:  Time to Vacuum..
When it’s time to vacuum, you merely turn on the Vacuum Cleaner.
If it’s been a month or two, just change the bag before vacuuming.
Simply pull it out, throw in the garbage,  insert a Fresh, clean smelling Bag. 
 
BAGLESS:   Time to Vacuum
When it’s time to vacuum, you check the dirt container. Looks Full,
( No one wanted to empty it when they finished last time,)
Now, before you do anything else you should empty it (without getting the dirt back on the floor.)
( Maybe take it outside and shake it around as you hold your breath ?)
You’ll also want to wipe it out because some nasty things get stuck in the cup.
You  attempt to "shake" out the filter also, only to have it "explode" in a cloud of dust, 
And... it STILL Seems filthy,  ("Hmm -  Maybe i have a 2nd vacuum, i can use to Vacuum it out?"
( Wow.... Now There is a brilliant idea ! )
When this is all done, you’re finally ready to "Begin" to vacuum.

   In Addition, Manufacturers Have Found it is easy to "fool" The consumer,  .....  Meaning..
    As Long as the Vac still picks Up Surface debris (IE: "Cheerio's" that the kids spilled)  the user thinks it is "Vacuuming"
   Unaware the Vacuum has lost up to 90% of its Suction, and no longer pulls out deep Grit that destroys Carpets.
  This is MOST COMMON In Bagless,  as the Filters Clog and are not replaced.
  OVER  80% of our in store repairs are on  Bagless,   
     (Most heavily the brands  Dyson, Shark & Euro-pro )

In the end,
"Bagless" Cleaners are continually blowing air into your home that is Dirty.
The Air has to pass through a Constricting Filter that is now clogged with filth from whenever
you last actually  Replaced  your "Permanent" Filter)
 "Bagless"  Filters range from $ 9.00 to $ 89.00
 ( Wow.. Now Replacing "Paper bags" are starting to look pretty "Inexpensive" )
 
BAGS:
All the Filth, hairballs, and old "Yuck"  are contained nicely in the bag.
Simply remove the bag and throw it in the trash.
You never see or touch the nasty stuff.   And....
Todays Micro Filtration / H.E.P.A. bags ensure it STAYS in the Bag .

BAGLESS:
All the dirt, hairballs, and old "Yuck" Continue to "Live" in your Vacuum Cleaner
 And you keep Blowing air Through it - back into your Home.
ALSO.....
As The Bagless filter clogs,
Air does not move through your Vacuum with the same intensity.
( Hint: this is why your new Bagless  CLOGS  way more often than your old Vacuum.)

it’s easy to see when the dirt container is full,  but then what?  
You need to carefully empty it, and try to avoid dumping the dirt right back into your carpet and air.  
Best case scenario,
You shake out the usual assortment of  Dirt, Filth,  Dust & Allergens
(That now gently floats away into your air.)
Worst case Scenario,
You are faced with shaking out Gross nasty stuff you may have picked up,
(We've heard stories of Mice droppings, Fleas, Bedbugs, Cat Vomit ).
 
BAGS:
$20.00 , the average Price to stock up with a year’s supply of Fresh, Clean, Good smelling Bags . 
We are always surprised by users that do not realize that  Bags are not just Bags, they are the FILTER.!
 ALL the air passes through the walls of the Bags.  Result:  Suction is restored. 
 And,  you are not blowing out air into your home that is going through 1 year old filth.
 
 "Bottom" Bottom Line:
  Every time you vacuum with a "Bagless"  the filter clogs a little more,
 You then  lose a little more suction.   Even if you  "clean" your  filter often
 
Sure,  They look pretty in the store, sitting  on the shelf ,  -  Brand New.  
After a few months in your home,  90% of them are filthy, Disgusting,
and Blowing dust and dirt out of every crevice in the Vacuum.

 The other 10% of the Bagless Vacuums we see work well.  they work exactly as you would hope. 
But When we speak to these owners, we find they do an Inordinate amount of Vacuum maintenance
and Vacuum cleaning before and after Every use    (Way more work than your vacuum should be)
